Websites

It is my belief that many websites are unnecessarily complicated and actually turn away prospective customers. A well designed, clear and usable website can reap huge benefits for your business.

Every £1 invested in improving your website's usability returns £10 to £100 (source: IBM)

Over the years I have compiled a few rules-of-thumb for good website design:

Rarius.Co.Uk create clean, clear, quick websites that simply work,

ACS Business Systems Ltd.

While employed by ACS Business Systems, I wrote a new website for them.

This site allowed customers to view the full range of the company's products, contact the support and sales departments.

The site used JavaScript to create a menu system that gave the user a very familiar way to navigate the site.

Report A Road Accident

One project I was responsible for at ACS was the Report A Road Accident website. Although this project was unable to go live, because of legal problems, we produced a very usable, stylish site.

This site employed extensive use of JavaScript, image maps and stylesheets to produce a pleasant and clear design.

Norwich Astronomical Society

I was a member and committee member of the Norwich Astronomical Society for almost 20 years. For much of that time I was responsible for the society's website.

It was a simple site, using a frames and stylesheets to acheive a clean, clear presentation.

HTech Ltd.

As part of my job at ACS, I was responsible for creating and maintaining clients' websites.

Utilising code already developed for ACS' own website, I was able to build the H-Tech website very quickly. This "code reuse" is a keystone of successful development.

The site used JavaScript to create a menu system that gave the user a very familiar way to navigate the site.
